Those of us who own cats wish we could communicate with them like Erin Bailey can in the second installment of the Franklin Paranormal Mystery Series, Paws and Premonitions. Erin, the protagonist, was tripped down the stairs by her benefactor’s cat, Peekaboo, so that she could see victims who haven’t gone to the other side because their murders haven’t been solved. After Erin solves the murder of Alice and moves to a new life in Franklin, Tennessee when Alice leaves her a beautiful home and plenty of money, Erin’s sweet old neighbor, Timothy, is murdered and since she can now see ghosts, his ghost asks her to solve his murder. Peekaboo is very involved, and Erin and her best friend and roommate, Susie, as well as her boyfriend, police detective, Ryan, and her investigator, DC, team up to solve Timothy’s murder.

This is one of those cozies that makes readers forget reality and drift off into a paranormal world that is upbeat and fun. McCord is a good storyteller and the novel flows with ups and downs and a fast moving story. Her development of the characters is excellent and even though the story is obviously nothing that could actually happen, somehow it’s is fun to imagine.

All told, this is a cut cozy and is a fast read. It’s fun, and suitable for all ages.
