Chocolate Pumpkin Gooey Bars Recipe
Chocolate and pumpkin are a match made in heaven, especially in the fall when pumpkin spice is extra popular. Gooey bars have been around for decades, and over the years dozens of different flavors have been developed. The following Chocolate Pumpkin Gooey Bars are a delicious variation, and they are very easy to make.
These yummy pumpkin bars can be made ahead and frozen; make sure you place a piece of parchment between the layers.
32 Bars
Crust:
1 15.25 ounce devil's food cake mix
2 eggs
1/2 cup softened butter
Filling:
1 15 oz. can pure pumpkin, (not pumpkin pie mix)
2 eggs
1 8 oz. package softened cream cheese
4 tablespoons softened butter
1 1/2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
3 cups powdered sugar
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Powdered sugar for dusting

- Preheat oven to 350°. Line a 13" x 9" shallow baking pan with parchment and spray the parchment with non-stick spray.
- Crust: Mix the cake mix, eggs, and butter; press into the prepared baking dish.
- Filling: Mix the pumpkin, eggs, cream cheese, butter, and pumpkin pie spice until smooth. Mix in the powdered sugar. Stir in the chocolate chips. Spread the mixture over the crust.
- Bake 50-60 minutes until the center is just set. Remove from the oven, sprinkle with additional powdered sugar, and let cool thoroughly before cutting into 32 squares.
