Natural Submission
Brandy M. Meiyappan
Cycle of day completed
The horizon blazing
Broad along the sky
Multitude of feathery hues
A palette of violet, red, and orange
Caught in blissful, wispy cirrus clouds
The silhouette of coniferous and deciduous
Ominous and opposing the inevitable darkness.
The lark’s song silenced
She will resume where she left off
Waiting for the light of dawn
While nocturnal creatures live and breathe
For the crisp air of a velvet, midnight sky
Their lullaby jovially lilting to music unheard
Dreams are woven in their unfettered web.
The blazing star knows its role
Submitting to the dusk before the night overcomes
Gentle death of this eve gives birth to
A fresh clean beginning, a renewal of life
So natural in its course, goes by unnoticed
Taken for granted that tomorrow will come.
