Linoleum and Laminate
Samantha Moore
I like the feel of ceramic tile and stone
Yet find myself encased in
Linoleum and laminate
While wandering in search of soul
I forgot to ask for small comforts
Like cotton linens and French-pressed coffee
I know now that it was wrong
To think myself above
The human experience
To the gods I submit my written plea
They oblige and turn away
Leaving me to right myself
Down here in the dirt
I scratch out a new manifesto
And wonder where IŽll wake tomorrow
