So beautiful,
So peaceful,
An angel fast asleep;
I kiss the top of your head,
The blonde peach fuzz
That will never grow
To be curls framing
Your cherubic face.
I study your eyes, perhaps blue,
That will never see
The sun rise or set.
I fondle your ears
That will never hear
The melodies I´d sing to you,
Caress your fingers
That will never hold my hands,
Will never play the piano
In the living room.
I tickle your feet
That will never touch the floor,
Will never wear shoes or dance.
I listen for your voice
That will never cry or laugh,
For the beat of your heart
That will never break,
As mine is breaking today,
Yearning for the love
You will never give or receive.
Your little body will soon
Be entombed in a white marble bed,
Covered with a blanket of dirt,
To be resting in earth´s eternity,
But your Spirit will be bound up with mine
Forever.
