alder leaves shimmer like wings of flying teal
tall cattails swaying and wind along the river
dandelions dreaming of a red rose promised

Alder leaves shimmer like wings of flying teal
rusting old tractor by the broken tree swing
dandelions dreaming of a red rose promised,
clustered wildflowers by an unkempt garden

Rusting old tractor by the broken tree swing
promises forgotten, lost in the fields of wheat
clustered wildflowers by an unkempt garden
tears of a homestead free-fall unto a memory.
