Moon

Lindsay Flanagan

and I would follow you, even into
the blackest of all moments
and I would lift you up, even if
my wings were torn and broken.

As the blood moon pours its light
into our room, just cover your eyes;
listen to the leaves brushing our window pane.

and I would follow you, even into
the deepest of all nights
and I would rescue you, even if
I had no saving grace left.

When the harvest moon reaps its crop
out of our fields, ignore the aching hunger;
listen to the rain seeping into our rich soil.

because I would follow you, even when
you’ve lost your way
and I would believe in you, even if
I had lost all faith.
