Our Shoes, Our Lives
Magdalene D. Cramer
I pile all the Shoes
So, so high
and wait
holding my breath.
Because these bright and dull colors,
dulled creamy canvas sides and stark white cotton soles are
so fleeting somehow
no danger is left
just the contrast of old and new now
Like my brain
So contained in sparkling joy
the thoughts and layers of our life
Illusory yet shocking, frightening and real
purple leather lining and dirty forsaken canvas teal
