Visit

Terri Simon

The Moon, just past full in a cloudless sky,
peered through my window,
so bright I took her for a streetlight.
She was checking in.
She hasn’t seen me in a while
and old friends do that.
Her visit was brief,
before she wandered up the sky
behind my window shade,
but it comforted me to know
I was still in her thoughts
when I’d almost forgotten
how beautiful she is.
