A Snake´s Business
Molly-LeGreve Karjala
This narrow-shouldered fellow,
As he traverses paths so secret.
Reveals to us, our streak of yellow.
With rustle here, then quickly there,
Amongst grasses comes sudden parting.
Why are we never ready for his twining fare?
We can count on sudden gasp,
Then startled shivers, predetermined,
All this caused by green-flash, darting asp.
Our neck hairs still uplifted.
As zigzag green and sneaky snake,
To other pastures, has already drifted.
