A Room Somewhere
Catherine Van Herrin
There will one day be a room somewhere,
upstairs,
and within it will be you and I,
whoever you are,
a little damp outside,
the tea on the floor,
our eyes clear,
hair straight
and rain against the white
windowpanes outside
music in the distance,
the papers spread
and a safe set of biscuits in the oven.
the sounds of our sighs of ease,
the laughter,
the aroma from the oven
will be enough
There will be all this
and more
