at the moment the palms brush
kohl upon the eyelids
of the firmament,
shading it some knightly
variation of imported
Japanese eggplant,
trellised so as to never have
touched the earth,
witness the arboreality
of standing pine and palm
and tamarind-weighted branches
within which shallow-foundationed squares
of concretized
Frugal Fashionistas, Saitos’,
Ethiopian roasters and
discount Spumante sellers
remain tucked within
