Sleep
Purnendu Chatterjee
Sleep, sleep as much you like:
Jump over the hurdles of pain,
Ignore the meshes of the world with
A wry smile, kick at the
Wheel of Fortune; as
You sleep, dream of
A dew drop on a blade
Of grass; cull the petals of
The Rose, never risking your fingers
To the thorns, and as you
Sleep, you will grow wiser
And wiser, bliss unhinder’d
Till the time comes
When you arise and become
The wisest, after the last, long
Sleep.
