Good Bye
Marylou Mansfield
The last words
I thought I would hear,
“Good bye.”
I coveted that moment,
Wanting the words,
Spoken,
To heal the pain.
Strangers get to say
“Hello and Good bye.”
Playmates exchange those words.
As lovers,
We deserved the same.
We always ended conversations,
“Bye, love you.”
It’s not like we never had opportunity.
We took the time.
Now,
It seems important
To hear,
To say,
Those words
One more time.
Do you feel the same?
Can you hear me?
“Good Bye”
