Passing Showers
Holly Van Leuven
Time creeps upon the world
In heavy sheets of rain,
In memories and smiles,
In misery and pain.
It tells our deepest secrets
And hides our darkest fears,
All the while knowing
What lays buried in our years.
And he sits before the window pane
Watching droplets slowly crawl
And wonders if, in the end,
It was truly worth it all.
For everyone has loved and lost
And tried to find again.
This fellow is no different
But now the storm nears its end.
Soon there will be sunshine
To chase away the clouds.
Gone will be this downpour
And the life that it enshrouds.
For everything must face its end.
Our times have been assigned.
But forever are our memories
In the puddles left behind.
