Dream Catcher´s Departure
Sue Russell
my dreams crept out the night window
keened to the dwindling cresset
inconsolable
who will fold our stories
into familiar shapes
remember when I hid under the
soft sorrel blanket and watched
the hornet circle the room
the time I fled the erect bear
with hollow yellow eyes
behind the sheet-draped doorway
when I was superman flying
through the caverns of an ancient library
uncovering clues to a crime
only I could solve
but the very best
dreamed a shadowed park
where I danced all night
danced all night
in a pansy-purple skirt that billowed
twirled and levitated to the clear
tone of joy
each dream a paper
crane of peace
