Sea Dance
Judith Steele
On a high tide in Decemberon a monsoon sea in Darwin
the mangrove trees are dancing
on rocking hills of water.
On a tide of seven metres
the mangrove trees are dancing
holding up their branches
on the swaying silky sea.
Beneath curried clouds of sunset
in the mangroves near the bike path
the little trees are dancing
holding up their arms.
